We were specifically looking for a walking tour of Edinburgh that would take us to places in the city around and beyond the popular tourist spots. While the tour stayed mainly on the Royal Mile, some of the places we stopped were not visible from the street, which was nice.

We took my 70 year old mom, who walks with a cane sometimes due to arthritis in her hip. She was ok with the walking but we there was one part of the tour with quite a few steps down and then a steep walk back up the road. I do wish there had been more of a description of what to expect for the tour. She managed it ok - just something worth noting for others in the same boat.

We also wanted a tour that would provide insight into the deep, dark history of the city in a way that wasn’t theatrical and cheesy. This tour definitely delivered!

Overall, would absolutely do it again! I would probably just tell my mom to sit this one out.

The group we... read more ended up with was not too big which is already a good start for a nice informative tour. Matt was an awesome guide with good jokes and a great way of history and story telling. Also very knowledgeable when we asked questions, he was able to answer them all but one! We got a great feel of the city and its history from him and would definitely recommend and do again when in the city.
